Dr Robert Davis

Dr. Davis' passion is to capitalize on unique market opportunities in the medical and biotech markets. Dr. Davis and his team of professionals at Horizon View Partners worked to provide capital resources for the technology under development at ACTUS Biotechnologies. Dr. Davis and his partners at Horizon View invest their own money in transactions and/or team up with family offices, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, pension funds, endowments and wealth advisors. His deep institutional relationships allow him to provide substantial investment resources to nascent technologies. Notable recent financings arranged included: $82 million for MGM Resorts International, $40 million credit facility for an orthotics/orthopaedics medical device company roll-up, $15 million for a well servicing and oil drilling company, $5 million for Brown Field Municipal Airport (San Diego airport development to supplement San Diego's current International Airport), amongst many others. Dr. Davis had been the Managing Partner of QuestStar Capital Partners where he cut his teeth on medical device financing with Sutura, a Fountain Valley, California medical device company. Sutura designed, developed, and manufactured a family of suture-mediated stitching devices for vascular tissue approximation.

Dr. Davis received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan with a minor in Creative Writing. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with High Honors, 3rd in his class and was a James B. Angel Scholar and member of the University of Michigan President's Advisory Committee, a seat he held for over one year. Medical school training was at University of Miami. Internal Medicine Residency training was at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Dr. Davis is Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Davis worked on his MBA at the University of Phoenix.

Jim Carmichael, CPA Family Office Partner

Mr. Carmichael is a Certified Public Accountant with over 35 years of business experience. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. He was with Arthur Andersen & Co. for over 11 years in the commercial section of the audit division. He is licensed to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in Arizona, Texas and New Jersey.

Since leaving public accounting, Jim has been a CEO and COO of corporations, both public and private, mainly in the Construction Materials industry. He has also consulted as a turn-­around expert within this industry sector. He has testified before Congressional Hearings and practiced extensively before the SEC, being responsible and associated with over $1 Billion in Public Capital offerings and initial public filings. He currently operates a privately held Exploration and Development Company in addition to his duties at ACTUS Biotechnologies and its subsidiaries and resides in Scottsdale, Arizona.

 

Hadi Al Alawi, Founder & Chairman of Al Hayat Group

Mr. Al Alawi received his Master’s in Marketing Degree at USC.

 

Troy McHenry, Lawyer MBA

MBA and Law Degrees from USC. Troy’s experience encompasses the real estate, energy and healthcare spaces, including his deep relationship with institutional investors. Founder Greystone Venture Capital. Vast experience in private equity and venture capital as lead counsel.

Previously co-lead counsel at MGM Resorts International. MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) is one of the world's leading global hospitality companies, operating a portfolio of destination resort brands, including Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and The Mirage. MGM has significant holdings in gaming, hospitality and entertainment, owns and operates 15 properties and has 50% investments in three other properties including CityCenter, which features ARIA Resort & Casino. MGM also has a 51% interest in MGM China Holdings Limited, which owns the MGM Macau resort and casino and is in the process of developing a resort on Cotai. At MGM International Troy was responsible for bond offerings, private placements and corporate financing and divestitures.

Lead banking and securities counsel at HCP www.hcpi.com. HCP has one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of any healthcare REIT. HCP’s revenues are derived from and are spread among the principal healthcare sectors, including senior housing, post-acute/skilled nursing, life science, medical office, and hospitals. HCP invests in real estate serving the healthcare industry - the largest sector of the U.S. economy. HCP acquires, develops, leases, sells and manages healthcare real estate and is a capital partner to the leading healthcare providers.

David West Smith, MBA

Mr. Smith is most recently a Founder and President of Global Emerging Technologies and an Advisor to Bio180 Solutions. Prior he was a Director of Private Equity for Deutsche Bank Asset Management in New York City, London, and Silicon Valley, where he was responsible for Private Equity investments and taking an active role in the strategic development and investment exits of the portfolio companies. He has more than 18 years of successful global Private Equity and Venture Capital experience in deal origination, structured financing and placement and team management. Managed and helped build out Private Equity teams. He previously held executive positions at Deutsche Bank, Global Emerging Markets, Gerald Energy (Man Group) and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

Mr. Smith has an MBA in Finance and International Business from University of Miami School of Business a BA in Social Anthropology from Eckerd College and post graduate studies at Universidad Granada, Span and Universitat Salzburg, Austria. He has been a special guest at the World Bank IMF annual meetings. He currently is active in Global Sustainability Initiatives with various Sovereign Wealth Funds as well as the United Nations High-Level Panel on Global Sustainability and a Board member of the Global Sustainability Group Katerva.org. Geographical project work has included MENA, GCC Hong Kong, Brazil and Europe.

Jim Britt, MBA

James is from Chicago and began his corporate career at Kraft Inc. in 1983. He was working in marketing finance when he began to finish his MBA at the University of Chicago, where he studied several courses under Nobel Prize winner Merton Miller.

He then went on to advisory services with American Express for several years, followed by a 6 year term with Wall St. firm Bear Stearns (institutional fixed income) where he developed many clients in the Western U.S. Fourteen years ago James moved west, and had worked on several private placements and derivative transactions for clients like Clear Channel, Sahara Resorts, True Religion Inc. and others via Wachovia Bank and Horizon View Partners. Jim has his BA from Yale University and has worked with Dr. Davis for several years.

John Dean Harper, Lawyer

Mr. Harper is a graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio with Bachelors of Business Administration degree and a double major in Business Pre-Law and General Business. He is also a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College of Law with a Juris Doctor. Mr. Harper has a private law practice focusing primarily on corporate law, labor/employment, estate and business planning. Mr. Harper serves as General Counsel for the Las Vegas Police Protective Association where he has successfully litigated hundreds of labor/employment cases, represented officers involved in shootings/critical incidents and negotiated collective bargaining agreements. In addition, Mr. Harper has drafted legislation for and lobbied in front of the Nevada Legislature. He has helped form many public companies and personally formed and operated three publicly-traded companies. Mr. Harper has also formed and represented numerous non-profit organizations.

Robert Lippert, MBA Biotech/Pharmaceutical Management Expert

Robert Lippert has more than 25 years experience in the global pharmaceutical industry. He offers executive leadership and senior management experience as well as a deep functional understanding of corporate and business development, finance, sales/marketing, manufacturing and product development. He has significant therapeutic knowledge in pain management, anesthesia, oncology, dermatology markets, acute care as well as considerable experience in drug delivery systems/medical devices. Mr. Lippert serves on the Board of Directors of several life science/pharma companies (ZARS Pharma, ProCertus BioPharm, and Tapemark). Mr. Lippert was appointed President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director, of ZARS Pharma in 2006.

Previously, he held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer since 2004. During his tenure, ZARS raised $27 million in private funds, received over $75 million from corporate partners, filed Form S-1 with the SEC, obtained two NDA approvals, and submitted six INDs while building a fully integrated specialty pharma company. ZARS was acquired by Nuvo Research in 2011.

Mr. Lippert received a Bachelors of Arts in Animal Biology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, a Bachelors Business Administration in Finance from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and a Masters Business Administration from Marquette University.
